AnnotationArt Link and Birmingham Social Services Department have just concluded a large scale and ground breaking initiative involving older people and the media arts. 'Old Voices, New Images' is three projects in one: a video documentary, a photographic exhibition, and a radio play, 'A kind of freedom'. Together they have involved 50 older people from different parts of Birmingham in developing ideas, learning new technical skills and creating high quality media works, working with professional artists. This article reviews the project's success, and some of the ideas and issues raised.
