Annotation | This study is based on interviews with all people aged 85 and over in Hackney in 1987, and two random samples of people aged 65-84 in Braintree, Essex in 1989. Survivors from all three groups were interviewed in 1992/93. The study aimed to explore what is 'successful' ageing in terms of what sustains well-being and quality of life. This paper summarises the authors' report (published by Age Concern England - ACE), and covers satisfaction with life, ability to perform everyday tasks, anxiety and depression, social networks, use of services, unmet needs, and survival and quality of life. |
