Mealtimes a missed opportunity? | Author(s) | Salli Littlewood, Saeideh Saeidi, Chris Williams |

Annotation | Problems with feeding and nutrition are common among older people with dementia, yet little research has looked at mealtimes from their point of view. The authors describe an 'action research', which took place on a dementia assessment ward, part of the Nursing Development Unit for older people with mental health needs at Seacroft Hospital, Leeds. The study aimed to assess and change nurses' practice and attitudes. It established standards of care relating to serving of meals, food choices and preferences, environmental aspects, social interaction and communication. |
