Annotation | The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), which became law in December 1996, has the guiding principle that those with disabilities should have equal access to services where reasonably possible. The author suggests that this could be interpreted to include blind and partially sighted older people in residential accommodation. Visual awareness training for nursing and care staff would help in making homes more user friendly for those with visual impairments. |
