AnnotationThis study, carried out under the aegis of the Tribunal for Patients' Rights, involved evaluation of the quality of services for the elderly and used a study method called AQSA (Analysis of the Quality of Services for the Aged). The study involved 40 retirement homes, 15 nursing homes (RSA), and 20 supplementary home care services (ADI) located throughout Italy. The main trends revealed in the research indicate: disjointedness, imbalance, and low level of quality in services; a gap between innovative policies and their implementation; and a growing divide between an 'institutionalised' elderly the rest of the older population.
