Annotation | In this survey of hospital-based career-grade geriatricians in Wales, more than half of respondents stated they were only able to take half of their study leave entitlement of ten days a year, mainly due to service commitment. Geriatricians regarded attendance at routine hospital meetings, specialist society meetings, reading books and journals, and discussion with colleagues as their preferred methods of keeping up to date. Most respondents said that the resources and funding required to underpin the system of continuing medical education (CME) should be provided by the employing authority. Results of this study have implications for the way in which geriatricians fulfil CME obligations in the future and provide directions for the planners of CME. |
