Annotation | Evidence on prospects for healthy old age for the baby boomer generations is mixed. There may have been benefits from changes in environment, nutrition, safer working practices and improved public health. These will have to be balanced against disparities in income, the trend towards privatisation of the health service, and access to employment opportunities - which are closely linked to health status. Those with uneven employment histories may not be in a position to contribute either to private pensions or private health insurance. They may be the most likely to be in most need of health care. |
