Annotation | There have been significant changes in the types of job on offer - especially to the 1960s baby boomers as compared to previous age groups - and in the nature of security of employment and career progression. This chapter examines the work experiences of the baby boomers so far, and assesses their future employment prospects. They can expect to have more than one career, and to spend more time in temporary, transitional and part-time employment. It will be necessary for future employment and training policies to reflect and adapt to a more flexible labour market in the key areas of recruitment, career progression and retirement planning. |
