Psychological models of aging: how, who, and what? — a comment | Author(s) | Neil Charness |
Journal title | Canadian Journal on Aging, vol 14, no 1, Spring 1995 |
Pages | pp 67-73 |
Keywords | Mental ageing ; Theory ; Mathematical models. |
Annotation | In his paper, Johannes Schroots raises some important issues about how to model the ageing process. As to whether there are too many or too few psychological models, Charness suggests in this response consideration of three basic issues. First, how should we study human behaviour in general, and development in particular? Second, who should we study? Finally, what is the preferred way to model age changes? There is no "right" answer to to such questions, but Charness advocates using computer simulation for improving gerodynamics. (RH). |
