| Annotation | The authors report on their study, 'International retirement migration from the United Kingdom to Southern Europe', begun in 1994. Its aim is to improve understanding of international retirement migration within Europe, thereby contributing to theoretical and empirical knowledge in migration decision-making, international population mobility, long-term tourism, social gerontology, and comparative social geography. The study will focus on retirees in Tuscany, Malta, the Algarve, and the Costa del Sol, and a sample of return migrants in the UK. Survey data should be complete in early 1997, with first reports of results available soon after. |
