Annotation | Two recent studies provide new information as to whether people feel an obligation of care for their more dependent relatives. An Australian study looks at children's responsibilities for elderly parents, and asks if Australian policy's current reliance on families to provide care and support for older family members assumes a society that no longer exists. A United States study examines perceptions about women's intergenerational family obligations to provide support, before and after divorce and remarriage. |
