AnnotationParticipants from European Union member states discussed the importance of appropriate housing and care for older people, identifying approaches and developments. The possibility of setting up a more permanent information exchange structure in co-operation with other EU initiatives was investigated. Some examples of innovative projects in EU member states are described: housing adaptation in Germany; GronBo in Denmark; home safety and security in the Netherlands; designing for economic spin-offs in France; Lifetime Homes in the UK; the Senior Citizen Label as the basis for a European standard in the Netherlands; and home improvement agencies in the UK.
