Annotation | This report aims to highlight good practice around food and mealtimes in residential and nursing homes, based on information obtained by questionnaire, and visits to selected homes. It incorporates: a discussion of the models of care and how they are reflected in the delivery of meals; ideas about the range of choice which residents could be offered; suggestions for making eating a more pleasurable experience for residents with physical or mental health difficulties; the needs of minorities - ethnic groups and vegetarians; and entertaining and celebrating. The report concludes with a series of practical recommendations for care staff and managers. |
