KeywordsSchizophrenia ; Assessment procedures for mental patients ; Israel.
AnnotationThe authors examined clock drawing ability in schizophrenia inpatients aged 60 to 76 years in a psychiatric hospital in Israel, seeking possible correlations with demographic, clinical and cognitive variables. The clock drawing item from the Cambridge Cognitive Examination (CAMCOG) was used to retrospectively analyse drawing skills, in which a significant proportion of schizophrenics are impaired. When this test is used as a screen for Alzheimer's (AD) in these patients, the results should be interpreted cautiously. Clock drawing abilities in these patients seem to be related to cognitive and non-cognitive (psychiatric state) factors, as well as to illness duration.
