AnnotationThis workshop information pack contains three papers: Principles of health care: reforms in Czechoslovakia; Environmental conditions in Czechoslovakia; and Health status and health care in Czechoslovakia: selected tables and figures. In the first paper, suggested reforms to the health care system are outlined, including citizen participation in health care; creation of 'health councils' consisting of representatives from health care staff and community citizens; changes to the health service management structure; improve primary health care; health promotion and disease prevention. In the second paper, the state of the environment in Czechoslovakia is examined, focusing on air, water, soil, forest, alien substances, gene pool and landscape problems. The final section presents tables and figures regarding various aspects of health, including: age structure; life expectancy; mortality by causes of death; and number of hospital beds.
