Is it music to their ears? | Author(s) | Jeanette Morrison |
Journal title | Journal of Dementia Care, vol 5, no 3, May / June 1997 |
Pages | pp 18-19 |
Keywords | Dementia ; Music ; Noise ; Care homes. |
Annotation | A background of continuous music which they have not chosen and cannot control adds to the disabling and confusing environment around older people with dementia. The author reports on a project to find out how music is being used in residential settings, how much awareness there is of using music for specific purposes, and to encourage the use of music and silence - getting rid of 'acoustic pollution' - for the benefit of residents. |
