Annotation | Older people in the United States with developmental disabilities were de-institutionalised in the late 1970s, and trained for sheltered work. They perceive the value of work not only for their well-being, but as an essence of society's esteem. This short article discusses how they now need to be persuaded to give up working in favour of new experiences or leisure activities. |
