Annotation | An overview of research studies from the 1980s and 1990s reveals social work's poor record in respect of domestic violence. Although widespread and consistent change is still lacking, this article reviews some examples of good practice in social service departments: the introduction of guidelines, the collection of relevant statistics, training and inter-agency liaison. The needs of abused older women, and those with mental health problems, physical disabilities or learning difficulties are also examined. |
