AnnotationThe issue of linking research and policy is not unique to health care of older people, but is also being used by specialist groups such as the Canadian Breast Cancer Initiative, using information from women with the disease. The Initiative demonstrates a model of consumer participation which enhances accountability and transfers research findings into policy - which could be applied to other diseases and population groups, including older people.
