AnnotationIntergenerational transfers (IGTs) are important to social continuity, and greatly affect the welfare state in Canada. This paper has four objectives: to put IGT in socio-historical, international comparative and current social policy contexts; to develop a typology of IGTs for answering policy questions, and linking research to policy; to encourage the collection of data to provide more informed policy decisions; and to enumerate key policy questions that remain to be researched.
