Pages | pp 20-28 |
Keywords | Community care ; Management [care] ; Needs [elderly] ; Northern Ireland. |
Annotation | Community care reforms were introduced in Northern Ireland in 1993, by means of the 'People first' policy document, instead of a Community Care Act. This article presents the findings of surveys of users and carers conducted by the Southern Health and Social Services Board and the Health and social Services Council. Their research suggests that care management has had a positive impact on the lives of those who had received it. The study will be used to review current practice in the light of perceptions of those using the service. |
