AnnotationThe aim of this book is to prepare care workers to conduct memory training programmes with older people who express concern about their memory performance. The programme of memory enhancement presented relies on components of traditional memory skills training, supplemented by components of cognitive restructuring and attribution retraining and other cognitive training procedures. The first part of the books presents an overview of theoretical perspectives on memory functioning in older age. The second part contains 15 units of guided cognitively based exercises, educational materials, and compensatory strategies to improve memory performance that could be integrated into general educational, therapeutic or guidance work with older people.
