AnnotationThe report considers the benefits and general implications of an Irish national training initiative for older people in receipt of social care services and their informal carers. The implications for paid formal social care workers, and for statutory, private and voluntary organisations were also considered. The report comprises a review of the Irish and European literature, an overview of existing provision and education and training in social care in Ireland, and key issues from consultations with relevant parties about the proposed training initiative.
