Alzheimer's disease a survey of clinical directors | Author(s) | Fintan Coyle |
Journal title | Geriatric Medicine, vol 27, no 4, April 1997 |
Pages | pp 59-62 |
Keywords | Psychiatrists ; Rehabilitation ; Dementia ; Social surveys. |
Annotation | This survey of clinical directors suggests that the burden of caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease does not fall on secondary care, since most patients are managed in this sector for only months. The one intervention that would most help in management would be to maintain the cognitive and global functions of Alzheimer's disease patients. The hope is that a drug that is well tolerated, affordable and with a good safety profile becomes available. |
