Annotation | Although at present its role is poorly understood, apoE (Apolipoprotein E) is involved in many cases of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and a number of related disorders. Since a number of defined molecular interactions appear to be involved, apoE may also prove to be a suitable target for therapeutic agents. Should an appropriate therapy become available in the future, apoE may provide a method for determining genetic susceptibility to AD. |
