AnnotationThis paper - published with the support of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) - reviews some indicators of the future of personal and social care emerging from the National Institute for Social Work's (NISW) research, development, policy and information services. It draws on current work being carried out at the Institute, and colleagues' experience of practice and management in other organisations. The themes emerging are: continuous and interacting change and diversity; and a fragmented system is being reviewed and monitored in a fragmented way, yet similar issues are emerging in relation to the social and personal care of adults, children and families.
