AnnotationThis chapter examines the extent of family networks in Britain in the 1990s. The authors try to establish how closely people live to their relatives, how much contact they have with them, the importance they attach to these networks, and whether or not they feel they can be called into service as sources of help and advice. To discover whether the situation is static or changing, reference is made to comparable data from the 1986 British social attitudes survey.
