Factors associated with nursing home staff turnover | Author(s) | Jane Banaszak-Holl, Marilyn A Hines |
Journal title | The Gerontologist, vol 36, no 4, August 1996 |
Pages | pp 512-517 |
Keywords | Nursing homes ; Nurses ; Staff turnover ; Job requirements ; Management [care] ; United States of America. |
Annotation | This study examines whether, while controlling for local economic conditions, job design and other organisational factors affect turnover rates of assistants in a sample of 250 nursing homes in ten US states. Turnover was significantly reduced by involving assistants in interdisciplinary care plan meetings. Turnover rates were higher in for-profit homes. Involvement in assessments, training and workload, case-mix severity and size of home were not significantly related to turnover. |
