AnnotationThis study examines whether, while controlling for local economic conditions, job design and other organisational factors affect turnover rates of assistants in a sample of 250 nursing homes in ten US states. Turnover was significantly reduced by involving assistants in interdisciplinary care plan meetings. Turnover rates were higher in for-profit homes. Involvement in assessments, training and workload, case-mix severity and size of home were not significantly related to turnover.
