| Annotation | The Project's aim was to provide equality of opportunity for carers in the field of higher education, and to identify needs of carers aiming to re-enter the labour market. The project set out to discover the scale of potential demand for University of Bristol higher education courses among carers, and to identify what support was needed for carers to attend such courses. Interviews with carers and caring organisations indicated that they seldom considered education and training, and that quality substitute care might not be available. If the Project was to succeed, it needed to reach out to carers, to encourage and inform positive decisions about their futures. One of the outcomes was that the Project's main function should be to provide and obtain guidance, information and resources. |
