Annotation | This conference comprised a series of short presentations by professionals and academics working in the fields of palliative and dementia care. The topics covered raised a number of issues: 'social death' and anticipatory grief' in relation to dying dementia patients; the emotional effects on relatives; pain and dementia; the contribution of social work; environmental features; information disclosure; and advance directives. The report includes a survey of delegates' views, which suggests that all the issues selected need further research and development. |
