AnnotationThis report is concerned with home care services, sometimes called domiciliary care services, which East Sussex County Council Social Services Department purchases from independent private or voluntary organisations. It describes a programme of action research on home care in Lewes area, aimed at learning how independent home care services deal with quality issues, by examining a sample of public and independent providers, including consultation with people receiving their services. The report explores the research findings, and outlines action initiated in East Sussex to specify, monitor, and review the quality of independent home services.
