AnnotationThis report presents a review of three Housing Choices Local Area projects carried out (1993-1995) in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, and identifies the implications for future directions for the New Homes for Old program. In addition, an assessment is made of the appropriateness and effectiveness of the complementary but independent benchmarking and tracking studies. The integration of housing supply and demand strategies is a potentially critical ingredient in enhancing understandings across sectors and in contributing to the acceptance and promotion of a range of housing choices. The Projects demonstrate the potential to produce a wider range of housing options suited to people's needs, and to assist older people to consider how they may achieve an effective match between their housing choice, lifestyle preferences and personal needs.
