AnnotationThis study covers housing policy and practices in countries with similar socio-economic profiles to Australia, including Canada, New Zealand, US, UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, and Sweden. The areas on which the research focused were: design and development; financing; service links; information and awareness; and special needs. Most of the countries studied are experiencing similar trends in the ageing of their populations and consequent changes in housing and support needs. They aim to keep older people in their family home or in their own community. However, resources are inadequate to allow governments to meet all demands or needs.
