AnnotationThis report aims to stimulate thinking on policy and planning for older people with mental health problems who live alone, by recording the issues, dilemmas and ideas concerning their care and needs. The different types of mental health problems experienced are described. Issues highlighted include: joint work with health services; assessment and care management; service response; minority ethnic groups; carers; protection and rights; housing; and training requirements. Although examples of good practice were found, the study identified a marginalised group, who could be helped through more joint work.
