Annotation | The London and South Conference was the first in a series of Regional Conferences, and the first step in the process of bringing together a national voice for all black elders: Asian, Caribbean and African. While there are major avenues for expression of views by pensioners generally, black elders' views have been rarely acknowledged by the main organisations for older people. The Conference came about as a result of a need expressed to bring together black older people on a regional and national basis, so that their voices could be heard by policy-makers. |
