Annotation | This study comprises a survey of all wheelchair services in England, Scotland and Wales. It is intended to provide a snapshot picture of the organisational features of the service: degree of centralisation; location; level of integration with services for disabled people generally; staffing; scope and coverage; referral process; systems for assessment; prescription and delivery of chairs and accessories; review and aftercare; nature and level of user participation in quality assurance, service development and planning; the purchaser and market environment. This broad picture is supplemented by more detailed case studies of three services designed to elicit an understanding of the process and outcomes of service delivery from the perspective of purchasers, providers and service users. |
