AnnotationFrequent falls in old people are an important marker for other serious diseases, but are poorly detected by general practitioners. This paper examines the reasons for this in 603 people aged 65 and over from a random sample of those living at home in Cardiff. Poor detection appears to be a combination of a reluctance on the part of older people to report the problem, and the relative inability of GPs to manage the problem successfully.
