AnnotationThis book provides a problem-oriented approach to geriatric medicine, and is divided into three main parts. The first outlines the principles of geriatric primary care and the characteristics of older people from which these principles arise. The second provides detailed, case-based approaches to major geriatric syndromes: confusion, dementia, and delirium; depression and failure to thrive; immobility and inactivity; dizziness; falls and falling; and incontinence. The third section deals with a wide range of clinical conditions, but is not comprehensive. The authors believe that application of the principles outlined in the first part and demonstrated in the second to any condition presenting in an older patient should result in better care.
