Annotation | This annual provides statistical information on population, households and families, education, employment, income, health, social protection, crime, housing, environment, transport and lifestyles in the United Kingdom. In more recent years, each annual presents a topic for closer scrutiny and in the 2001 edition there was an article by Muriel Nissel on 200 years of the census of population, celebrating the taking of a census in the UK since 1801. In 2005, the edition commemorated 35 years of publication and had an article that looked back at the past social reporting. From 2010, this journal will be available only online from the ONS website, unless specifically subscribed to from a licensed seller of ONS publications or Palgrave Macmillan, the ONS publishing partner.
