AnnotationThis review - which was sent to chairmen of all social services committees in England - brings together a selection of data received by the DoH from local authorities on trends in service provision and spending in English social services authorities over the decade to 1994-95, and never previously summarised in this way. The purposes for this are: to give better feedback to local authority members and senior managers of the statistics which their authorities send to the Department; to outline the trends in service expansion, quality improvement and costs; and to help local authorities in asking questions about costs and priorities in service development, to ensure greatest value for money.
