AnnotationThis paper reviews the latest knowledge on the prevalence, age-specific vulnerabilities, and diagnostic complexities of geriatric AIDS. The limited information on psychological and social correlates of AIDS in the elderly is summarised. Practice recommendations tailored to and elaborating social work functions of education, screening and assessment, case management, counselling, interdisciplinary collaboration, caregiver support, advocacy and knowledge building are offered.
