The reinterpretation of finitude
 — an introduction to three articles on the philosophy of aging
Author(s)Jan Baars
Journal titleJournal of Aging Studies, vol 11, no 4, Winter 1997
Pagespp 259-261
KeywordsAgeing process ; Philosophy.
AnnotationAlthough philosophy has been virtually silent about aspects of ageing and gerontology relevant to the discipline, ageing is not a new topic in philosophy: it only has to be reintroduced. This article is by way of introduction to three articles by Thomas Rentsch, Harry Kunneman, and Jan Baars. Although the three authors offer different perspectives on ageing, there is a common effort to reinterpret the fundamental experience of finitude - being towards death - in the light of ageing.
