| Annotation | This review outlines the current levels and sources of income for older people, compared with those of the younger population. Trends and changes in pensioners' incomes are described, and the issues in providing a secure income in old age are discussed. The author observes that pension policy will be vigorously discussed as an election issue. Ensuring an adequate income in retirement, more equal provision for men and women, the movement towards funded pensions, the role of the state pension, and progress in the minimum guarantee are points identified for re-examination in two years' time. |
