Consulting with carers what do they think? | Author(s) | Marian Barnes, Gerald Wistow |
Journal title | Social Services Research, no 1, 1992 |
Publisher | University of Birmingham, 1992 |
Pages | pp 9-30 |
Keywords | Informal care ; Participation ; Community care ; Social Services Departments ; Birmingham. |
Annotation | This is part of the authors' detailed research on Birmingham City Council's Community Care Special Action Project, and analyses the characteristics and views of carers attending consultation meetings. This paper provides an insight into not only what carers want from social services, but also in what ways they want to become involved in decision making. Users and carers, rather than professionals, need to be able to have positive choices about their degree of participation. |
