Annotation | This survey compares demographic and functional characteristics of older users and non-users of home care services in urban Nova Scotia and Newfoundland using a cross-sectional study design. Most of the respondents did not receive home care services, although those aged over 85 without a carer in the same household or not married, and those with some sort of disability were more likely to receive home care. If home care is to substitute for institutional care, existing home care programmes must be prepared to adapt to a new type of user. |
