AnnotationThe purposes of the Fit (Falls Intervention Trials) Project in the Capital District of Victoria, British Columbia, were to describe the nature of falls among older people, and to develop and evaluate a programme designed to reduce the number of falls. The Fit Project consisted of a comprehensive falls risk assessment, individualised risk counselling, and a video/print educational package. This paper presents a brief literature review, and outlines the goals, intervention and selected six-month outcomes of the Project.
