Annotation | The first Turkish immigrants to Denmark in the 1960s and 1970s are now entering the ranks of the older generations, and their families have joined them and settled in Denmark. An interview study of Turkish immigrants aged 55 and over in Copenhagen showed that their situation had not changed appreciably in the past decade as regards a number of economic and social variables such as housing. This article analyses the results of the survey, suggesting interpretations, in terms of theories of modernisation and assimilation, and ageing as a leveller or as a double jeopardy. |
