Annotation | This article reports on a conference for family physicians in British Columbia with the aim of enhancing their knowledge in the management of psychiatric emergencies involving older people. The physicians completed a test on managing emergencies in geriatric psychiatry that was given before and after the conference. Results indicated a significant increase in their scores after training. Participants' ability to apply information presented on the certification of older people under the British Columbia Mental Health Act was also evaluated, and nearly all performed skilfully on this exercise. |
