Annotation | The Young Onset Dementia Project was established to research the needs of people who develop dementia before the age of 65 years and their families in Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. This report points to the need for greater awareness of young onset dementia, and once diagnosis is established, co-ordination of health, social services and the independent sector. Recommendations on services include: support for carers (e.g. Admiral Nurse Service); counselling, information and advice; befriending and advocacy services; day, respite and residential services; staff with specialist training; and contact with other carers. |
