AnnotationExamines the possibility of a perceived association between age and a number of work characteristics; the extent, patterns and reasons for the use of age in organisations' personnel practices; and managerial attitudes to age as an equality of opportunity issue. The results indicate how strongly managers are aware of the relevance of age in employment. Practical recommendations are made on recruitment, selection, appraisal and staff development.
